Role Overview: As the Kaihautū (Cultural Co-ordinator), you will develop and support the implementation of our Cultural Capability Plan, enhancing our responsiveness to Māori and building strong community relationships. You will work closely with the chief executive to ensure our services meet the highest standards and align with our vision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and monitor the Cultural Capability Plan.

• Build team responsiveness to Māori through workshops and supervision.

• Foster and maintain relationships with mana whenua in our communities.

• Provide cultural advisory support to the Board and leadership team.

• Ensure policies reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our values.

What You Will Bring:

• Fluency in Te Reo Māori.

• Deep understanding of Tikanga and Kawa.

• Strong community connections and mana within the Māori community.

• Experience in delivering disability or social services.

• Ability to develop and deliver training materials.

• Self-directed, adaptable, and excellent communication skills.

• Commitment to disability rights and ethical practices.

• A dedicated cultural advisor providing day-to-day guidance on Māori cultural practices.

• Structured consultation processes for staff and Board members.

• Active involvement of the cultural co-ordinator in key decision-making processes.

• Regular feedback from the cultural co-ordinator integrated into policies and practices.

• Regular training for staff on engaging with the cultural co-ordinator.

This is a newly created role based in Hamilton City Centre, but with responsibilities across the regions in which we deliver services. Hours are negotiable and will be discussed with the successful candidate. Flexibility is key.
