Raukawa Charitable Trust delivers cultural, health, social and environmental outcomes for Raukawa uri and communities across the Raukawa takiwā. Guided by Tika, Pono and Aroha, the Trust advances the aspirations of Raukawa and supports the wellbeing of whānau. We are seeking an experienced senior leader to guide Tiwai Hauora, the Trust’s health and social services group. This is an opportunity to build on established services, develop capable leaders and strengthen the foundations for sustainable, high-quality delivery.
Te tūranga | The opportunity
Reporting to the Tāhuhu Rangapū (Chief Executive), you will lead up to 40 kaimahi across services including mental health, addictions, nursing, disability and whānau support. Your priority will be to strengthen how the group operates: supporting managers to lead effectively, bringing teams and services together, and ensuring clear expectations, sound systems and consistent delivery. You will connect strategic direction with everyday practice, keeping whānau needs and aspirations at the centre of any decision.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the direction and performance of the wider Trust. You will work alongside other senior leaders, share responsibility for organisational priorities and bring a whole-of-organisation perspective to your leadership.
Your focus will include:
- People leadership: Developing managers and kaimahi, strengthening accountability and confidently addressing people and performance matters with support from HR.
- Integrated services: Improving coordination across health and social services, embedding kaupapa Māori approaches and using evidence and whānau feedback to strengthen outcomes.
- Operational sustainability: Maintaining effective oversight of budgets, resources, contracts, quality, compliance and risk.
- Relationships and influence: Building trusted partnerships with iwi, hapū, marae, funders and agencies, and representing Raukawa locally, regionally and nationally.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are an experienced senior leader who combines strategic judgement with practical operational capability. You know how to develop leaders, establish clear priorities and follow through. You build trust through your actions and approach challenging conversations with fairness, confidence and respect.
You will bring:
- Substantial leadership experience in health, social services or a closely related sector, with responsibility for teams and services of comparable scale and complexity.
- Demonstrated success in people management, service improvement and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong financial and contract management skills, including working with funders and maintaining sustainable services.
- The ability to turn strategy into action and provide sound advice to executive leaders and governance.
- An understanding of te reo me ōna tikanga, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mātāpono that are reflected in your leadership practice.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and a full, clean drivers licence.
You will be comfortable participating appropriately in hui and building relationships within a kaupapa Māori environment. Te reo Māori capability and a commitment to continued development are valued. A connection to Raukawa would be an advantage.
What we offer
An attractive remuneration package reflecting the seniority of the role and your experience. You will join an organisation where cultural guidance, collective leadership and whānau wellbeing shape the mahi. You will maintain a regular, visible presence with kaimahi in Tokoroa and Putāruru and engage across the Raukawa takiwā. For that reason, you will need to be based within commuting distance or be willing to relocate.
We aim to confirm an appointment before the Christmas break, with a commencement date to be agreed with the successful candidate.
