The Community Partnerships and Wellbeing Team are now looking for a Community Advisor to join on a permanent part-time basis. This is a 20 hours per week role and we are flexible with what days you work your hours however, Wednesday is the team anchor day in the office so you will need to accommodate this as a working day.
The Community Partnerships and Wellbeing Team sits within Council’s wider City Safety and Wellbeing Business Unit, which brings together frontline operations, harm prevention, community partnerships and data-informed insight. Our team works alongside communities, mana whenua, social sector partners and Council teams to strengthen local connection, inclusion and resilience.
We support community-led projects, local leadership, community resilience, food systems, diverse communities, relationship management and evidence-informed advice. Our role is to connect community voice, local knowledge and practical partnerships with Council planning and decision-making, so that issues are identified early and Wellingtonians can participate, belong and thrive.
This is a varied role that combines relationship management, facilitation, community development and advice. One day you could be helping develop a community-led project, supporting a city-wide campaign, or working alongside community partners to tackle emerging social issues or opportunities.
The next, you may be providing advice to Council colleagues, building partnerships, or helping coordinate Wellington’s welfare response and recovery during emergencies. Across the role, you’ll help connect community insight with practical action across the wider City Safety and Wellbeing unit.

To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
- A genuine passion for working alongside communities to enable positive social outcomes
- Connections with multi-cultural organisations in the Pōneke community and understands the strengths, opportunities and challenges they experience
- Proven ability to facilitate conversations, navigate different perspectives and bring people together around shared work
- Experience supporting community-led, place-based or partnership responses to social, safety or wellbeing issues
- Ability to use community insight, local knowledge and evidence to inform practical advice and decision-making
We are looking to appoint from $84,997 per annum pro-rated depending on relevant skills and experience.
